New Starbucks Construction

It’s About to Get a Bit More Starbuck-ier Around Here

I was suppose to write about this topic a few weeks back, but instead I’ve been busy working on other things. Before I continue, can you guess from where have I been working on these other said things? If you guessed from a Starbucks, then you deserve a high five and a cup of Joe because that was the correct answer.

I was actually planning on building up the suspense, but I’ll cut to the chase — the city of Madera is opening not one new Starbucks location, but two! That will bring to the total number of Starbucks in Madera to five! There’s currently one on Howard Rd, one near the Home Depot on Marketplace Dr, and the newest and smallest one near Ave 18 1/2 by Pilot.

The first new upcoming location which is probably only a few weeks away from opening will be located next to the Planet Fitness on Olive Ave. This Starbucks location will have a drive thru, and may possibly be 24 hours depending on demand. Based on the photo below a drive thru window can be confirmed. The new building will not only house a Starbucks, but it is large enough that will probably have space for another type of business.

The second new location hasn’t even broke ground yet. Its planned location will be across the street (west of it) from the McDonald’s in The Crossroads Shopping Center (Rancho San Miguel shopping area). As of now, there’s only a sign that says “Starbucks Coming Soon.” Besides that, there’s currently not much information about it.

As a fun fact, there was suppose to be a Starbucks already in the Rancho San Miguel shopping area. Years ago, probably around 2008 right before the U.S. economy took a downward spiral, a Starbucks building was constructed, but due to the bad economy it never actually opened. Today, the building is occupied by H&R Block which is next to Little Caesar’s. You can actually tell it was suppose to be a Starbucks today! As shown below there’s a drive thru window still in place!

It may all not be good news, I cannot confirm this, but according to a Starbucks barista the Howard one may close down as it lacks a drive thru. I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

I’m sorry but it is a very bad idea… I don’t think they thought about all those accidents that happen in that area…. why didn’t they just used one of those empty buildings in that shopping center?!
